Recertification for Energy Managers and Energy Auditors

Energy Managers and Energy Auditors certifications are valid for 3 years. To maintain your credentials and stay up-to-date, you must complete the recertification process.

Who is qualified for recertification?

  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM): Professionals responsible for optimizing energy use and improving energy efficiency.
  • Certified Energy Auditor (CEA): Professionals specializing in assessing energy use and identifying energy-saving opportunities.

Recertification requirements

  • Valid Certification: You must hold an active EM or EA certification.
  • Certificate of Completion from RTI: Complete recertification courses, typically offered by accredited institutes like RTI.
  • Endorsement Letter from Designated Establishment (DE): A letter confirming your active role in energy management or auditing.
  • Proof of Compliance with DE Obligations: Submit the latest:
  • AEUR (Annual Energy Utilization Report)
  • AEECR (Annual Energy Efficiency and Conservation Report)
  • EAR (Energy Audit Report)

Why have yourself recertified?

  • Stay Current: Ensure you are updated on the latest technologies, practices, and regulations.
  • Maintain Credentials: Recertification is required every 3 years to keep your certification valid.



Note:

  • Expired certifications will only be accepted if they have been expired for no more than two years from the expiration date.
  • For those whose certifications expire in 2025, completing the recertification process ensures you remain a qualified Energy Manager or Auditor.
